Milano, 18 June 2008. Marco Simoncelli, the Team Metis Gilera rider who clocked up fantastic wins in the last two GPs (Mugello and Barcelona), is clearly in the running for the 250 World Championship.

Marco or ‘Super-Sic’, as his fans know him, is establishing himself as the most promising new Italian rider in the 250 class, and is already famous for his exciting on-track battles and amiable off-track personality.

While relaxing during the pause in the championship before the UK GP, Marco was eager to try out the latest addition to the Gilera range, the new Nexus 300.

Marco Simoncelli took the Gilera Nexus 300 around Misano, the home circuit for many great Italian riders, and had tremendous fun showing off the scooter’s prowess with high angles of lean and rapid direction changes.

Marco played with the new Nexus 300 just as he does with his racing Gilera, and enjoyed an entire afternoon of fast cornering, stunts and burn-outs.

“The Nexus 300 is a really great scooter to ride,” Simoncelli told us in his broad Romagna accent. “You can tell immediately how manoeuvrable, light and agile it is. It’s got all enough power it needs for fun riding too. It’s a great new model; fast and really nippy.”Marco also had the chance to try out the world’s fastest and most powerful scooter, the mighty, twin cylinder Gilera GP800. The experience left him surprised and enthusiastic: “My God! I’ve never ridden a scooter with that sort of power before. It’s like riding a motorcycle.”
